Dance music icon and DJ Pete Tong announced today that he will be touring North America this fall. The host of the world famous Essential Selection & Essential Mix shows, broadcast by the BBC, has just returned from Ibiza, where he hosted his weekly ‘Wonderland’ residency at Eden and will kick off his eleven date North American tour on October 25, 2009.
To accompany the tour Pete Tong will hold a ‘Tong Factor’ talent competition in conjunction with Beatport.com, the leading digital retailer of electronic music. After each show Pete Tong is asking that attendees hand him demos on CDs or USBs, Pete will play the best tracks during the tour. Once the tour is over the top tracks selected by Pete Tong will be released via Beatport.com. You can follow Pete’s progress on the road via his online diary for Beatportal.com.
As a DJ Pete Tong needs little introduction, he has graced the decks of the biggest and best festivals and clubs around the world for over 10 years. As a broadcast host he presides over two of the most listened to and downloaded shows on BBC Radio, The Essential Selection and The Essential Mix. In the studio Tong has mixed some of the biggest compilations and supervised and scored a number cult films (It’s All Gone Pete Tong, 24 Hour Party People & Harry Brown). This year he also completed mixes on Underworld, U2, Kings of Leon , Madonna and Cindy Gomez.
