Free music producer lectures in London

To mark the launch of its new Masters Degree in Record Production, Thames Valley University is holding a series of free public lectures featuring leading industry figures.
Kicking off on 1 October, Robin Millar, whose productions for artists such as Sade, Everything But The Girl and The Style Council have sold more that 55 million copies worldwide, including 44 number one hits, will discuss the secrets of his success and how to carve out a career in today's rapidly changing industry. He will be followed on 22 October by Ted Fletcher who worked with innovative British producer Joe Meek in the early 1960s, developed the JoeMeek and TFPro ranges of audio processors in the 1990s and recentlyinvented the single source 'stereo' system, airSOUND. Fletcher will explain his approach to recorded sound and how it has shaped his groundbreaking work over five decades. On 12 November, Hank Shocklee, of The Bomb Squad and Public Enemy, will be spilling the secrets of rap production and discussing the new business models he’s developing for his new company, Shocklee Entertainment. The series will be rounded off by Phil Harding, renowned producer and engineer, who will take us through his remarkable career from The Clash to Kylie and discuss the importance of the mix on the 10 December. 

TVU FutureSkills would like to invite you to a series of free lectures 'Making Records' to launch the Faculty of the Arts new MA in Record Production, at the London College of Music. Leading producers and industry figures will explain their approach to the production of recorded music with reference to their own professional experience. It is also a launch for the Faculty of the Arts new MA in Record Production.

Making Records showcases 4 leading producers and industry specialists, who bring a wealth of industry experience to discussing the production of recorded music and confide the secrets behind being a successful music producer and audio innovator.

Lecture 1: Thursday 1st October 2009, 6pm at TVU, St Mary's, Ealing, W5.

Lecture 2: Thursday 22nd October 2009, 6pm at TVU, St Mary's, Ealing, W5.

Ted Fletcher, technological wizard of Joe Meek fame and inventor of airSOUND explains his problem-solving techniques. 

Lecture 3: Thursday 12th November 2009, 6pm at TVU, St Mary's, Ealing, W5.

Hank Shocklee, of 'The Bomb Squad' and Public Enemy, will be spilling the secrets of rap production. 

Lecture 4: Thursday 10th December 2009, 6pm at TVU, St Mary's, Ealing, W5.

Phil Harding, renowned producer and engineer, takes us through his remarkable career from The Clash to Kylie.
