Another benchmark track for Strictly Rhythm, Roy Davis Jr’s much copied 1993 release managed the impressive feat of recalling the classic Chicago piano house sound and merging it with a killer saxophone part and spoken word vocal.  With his taste for tough, angular grooves Martijn ten Velden wasn’t maybe the most obvious choice for the remix, but he steps up in fine style, his love for the original shining through in a sympathetic version that emphasises the sheer euphoria of the sax and piano set to updated, but never overbearing beats. Baltimore bad boy Karizma kicks out the alternative mix, a swinging, funky groove with a splash of DC go-go. We believe.
