In a move that’s sure to shake up the international dance music community, Los Angeles based DJ/Producer Andy Caldwell leaves behind the smooth and sunny SF sound that was all the rage back in the early 2000s and gets down and dirty with a tougher, more electro sound better suited for larger venues, as he discovered he loves while tirelessly touring around the globe. This is Andy Caldwell’s “Obsession.”
“My sound has been changing over the last few years,” Caldwell says. "I got more into the electronic sound with the European house scene and wanted to express that in an album. I was really feeling stagnant creatively and broke out of the soulful house shackles about a year ago.”
These 10 brand new original tracks will likely become an obsession for thousands of dance music enthusiasts when the album drops October 6 (exclusively on iTunes) on Uno Recordings - and digitally October 20.  Showcasing his impeccable pop songwriting skills, the album is chock full of catchy hooks and features sexy collaborations with the one and only Mr. V (Strictly Rhythm, MAW Records), emerging talents such as Storm Lee, Femke, Mr. J. Madeiros and Alexander and his former Soulstice bandmate, Gina Rene.
Remixes of hit singles “It’s Guud,” by Tim Weeks, Matteo Dimar, and Bale & Voltaire are already climbing up the dance charts as is Morgan Page’s mix of “Black Diamond Sky,” with both tracks getting heavy support from DJs Ashley Beedle, Bob Sinclair, Danny Howells, Rocky and Diesel, Dirty South, Fedde Le Grand, Basement Jaxx, Hector Romero, Jimpster, Mark Knight, Nic Fanciulli, Copyright, Junior Jack, and many more.
As a songwriter, producer, classically trained pianist and trumpeter, remixer, DJ and label owner (of the recently re-launched Uno Recordings), Andy Caldwell has thrown his hat into many rings over the course of his 15+ year career. Somehow, after circling the globe several times and playing more than 100 shows a year, Andy Caldwell also found the time to pen Grammy Nominated songs and even once shared the stage with James Brown.
Beyond his own productions, Caldwell has also made waves as a remixer of both underground heroes (Narcotic Thrust, Hani) and mainstream icons (Bee Gee’s, Jennifer Lopez) and received notoriety for his “unofficial” bootleg of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are.” Andy's music has been licensed to dozens of television shows, video games and movies including ‘Six Feet Under', ‘Sex in the City', ‘FIFA Soccer 08' and ‘Forces of Nature'.
