JPLS - SPOOK TRAX VOL.II

The time of the year has returned for JPLS to wear his mask of melodic intrigue. Spook Trax Vol.II is an evolution of the series providing an even further insight into his madness and mystery. The pack contains 2 tracks of haunting rhythms perfect for late night adventures into unknown territories.
As an additional treat, mp3 and flac formats are embedded with perfect beat grid analysis for Traktor. Ableton Live 8 is supported as well with analysis files accompanying mp3, flac and wav formats.

GAISER - PULLPUSH

The tension in John Carpenter’s horror classic The Thing is generated by not knowing which member of the doomed arctic research team has been taken over by the shape shifting alien and exactly when it’s going to break out and reap havoc. In a similar vein listening to Gaiser’s sure shot collection of dancefloor burners creates the same feelings of suspense and intrigue. Initially we’re presented with a familiar battery of sounds and effects – harsh, angular snares, rolling sub bass lines, chattering bird like percussion and twisted, cut-up vocal snippets that together make up his unmistakeable style, but as the drama unfolds you can never quite tell where the attack will come from and which sound will suddenly loom up large or morph out beyond recognition.

CLICK BOX vs RUN STOP RESTORE - HELEN IN THE KELLER

As a production team, Run Stop Restore has been a pragmatic group with Marc Houle, Troy Pierce and Magda pursuing their own hectic schedules of production and performance. Recently, the three members have taken the opportunity to meet in the same studio to combine their unique ideas. Their Items and Things imprint - a label set up as an output for new projects, collaborations and ideas with a distinctly left of centre attitude is primarily run by wireless communication. After a pair of compilation EPs, the first act to receive a dedicated release was Click Box  - the brainchild of Marco Silva and Pedro Turra whose tough, retro sound, non-conformist arrangements and skilful sound design fitted perfectly to the I&T ethos. The relationship has obviously grown at speed, culminating in this two track Minus release recorded during a five day session in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With all five artists jamming together on a host of analog synths and a low slung bass guitar contribution from Marc Houle.

Minus recording artist Gaiser is following up his debut artist album Blank Fade with two back to back singles released between October and November 2009. The French music magazine Tsugi have reached their 100th podcast, which was reason enough for Richie Hawtin to donate one of his excellent mixes, recorded at a big festival this summer.

Minus is pleased to announce the beginning of a new initiative to expand the boundaries of the creative process while fostering new talent and provoking new ways of communication. MINUS-EMBED will invite creative individuals to become an embedded participant on a weekend trip with Richie Hawtin to catalog, document and then respond to the event in an artistic format. This creative response will then be exhibited on the Minus website and possible other platforms.
