Swedish house mafioso Steve Angello was accused by the members of SHM forum of faking his live set @ Rio Music Conference. It all began with this video:
We can see that he is mixing without headphones and he doesn't work with the mixer. Here are some thoughts by the members of the forum. Read full discussion here . anonym0us: Steve Angello does not have any sort of headphones connected to the DJM 800, so I guess he's not really mixing live? ... the kid on the right seems to be mixing, he opens that laptop every time there is a transition, and when the camera focuses on him, he moves away quickly and Steve Angello gives him a little smirk, sort of shady. Steve also just seems to be flapping around his CDs like he was reading a magazine...meh... julian: wtf and when he does the transition hes only pushing a button on the cdj and not doin anything with the mixer (at first at least). really weird. djing without headphones is possible, but hes not even adjusting anything. might be that the tracks he plays there have the same speed anyways. dunno Malm: I think that he has all tracks edited in same bpm therefore no pitching and he is pressing play around 3:11. And i have seen him dj without headphones a couople of times, no fancy mixing but it works. Guess he gets kind of good at beat matching since he has been touring like every day the last 3-4 years! Domobaby: I dont know the first thign about Dj'in. But essentially when you see the guys twiddling (pretending?) or fuiddling around with the mixer mid song is this just part of the show? The tunes are on CD and once they are mixed apart from the odd effects they add on a song through the mixer are they actually doing anything lol? Especially the SHM when there is 3 of them in a DJ booth haha. I love it as it provides energy but for a lot of the time they will be standing there blowing air horns haha! papaduflot: that's really weird. when the transition starts at 3 minutes and somethin steve is not even touching the mixer, he's smoking and flipping the cds :? and i don't think that the manager of the club was pissed ;) at this point of shm boys careers, just their presence itself guarantees profit, no matter how they play, i think... Andy_Brinkhaus: he's simply using bpm numbers... 128 bpm Steve Angello's comments was just posted on his twitter: I love the fact that ppl don't think I am mixing cause I'm not wearing headphones all the time .. I play 160 gigs a year , and have dj'd for 15 years . Just cause someone is doing something different doesn't mean that its fake .. I think all of u who think so should stop being such haters and come see for yourself .. I play the same records everyday I don't need to listen to what I do .. Its my party trick and respect that instead of hating on it . If u doubt it come in the both or try do it yourself before u judge !! Ok .. Nuff said .. SA For all you ppl out there who wanna know how its done .. Lemme tell u .., dj for 5 hours a day for 10 years. When you have done that .. Start touring , playing 4-6 gigs a week for another 5 years... After that try play on the CDj's. U see the BPM on the right side of the display , u have a pitch and easy way to count the BPM is by looking on the cd u gonna mix in , if 1 bpm is the dif just adjust the pitch to +0.8 or -0.8 depending on if its slower or faster .. After that 0.8 either way is one BPM. So 1.6 is 2 , 2.4 is 3 , 3.20 is 4 and 4 is 5. Ok .. Learn the trax u play and enjoy. OMG I can't believe I care about haters.. But u know what when you work your ass off and ppl accuse you for being fake. U get upset .. ![]() Related Content:
