Those ready to get their snow shoes on for a winter rave in Austria shouldn't act so quickly: Officials from the Snowside festival have announced that the event has been canceled. Citing "the current economic climate, the pound-euro exchange rate resulting in rising costs" and all-important "ticket sales," the organizers have packed it in for 2009, but have expressed hope that they can once again hold Snowside in 2010. "It is with deep regret that due to circumstances beyond our control we have been left with no other choice, Snowside 2009 is not going ahead on 23rd-29th March. A huge effort has been maintained right throughout the campaign to successfully produce our first alpine festival however due to certain unforeseen factors including the current economic climate, the Pound-Euro exchange rate resulting in rising costs, the knock on effect is that ticket sales have been too low. All these factors combined have contributed towards us at Snowside having to make this very difficult decision. For those of you who have booked Snowside In accordance with our terms and conditions, refer to points 7.1 – 7.4, we will be offering you two options. 1) We will give you a full refund plus £10 compensation per person booked. 2) We must offer you an alternative holiday of the same value. We will contact you shortly with more details about the alternative holiday and the refunds. This is enormously regrettable and we obviously apologise for the inconvenience caused. We greatly appreciate the support you have offered so far. With Much Regret and Sadness The Snowside Team Snowside is a music and arts festival with a world class line up, and its also a ski and snowboard adventure. Beyond that, a party experience conjured by experts in radical, life-affirming events. Parties produced by award-winning UK festival wizards The Secret Garden Party and Eddy Temple Morris' The Remix, it's an event that will bring the best in party-orientated values to the spectacular mountainscapes of Nassfeld, Austria. {youtube}Ju9Gde27UKQ{/youtube}
