Welcome to the March edition of the Sander van Doorn newsletter! Spring is on it’s way in Europe and 2009 is well and truly underway for team SVD. We’ve been rather busy since the last newsletter - there are lots of things coming your way over the next month as you will see when you read on...
CLOSE MY EYES UPDATESanders Robbie Williams collaboration, Close My Eyes, has entered the Dutch charts in the top 20 with almost every national radio station playlisting the record. Other countries are set to release the record over the next few weeks and we’ll keep you posted on progress, but if you can’t wait that long you can buy it on Beatport here where it has been at no.1 in the trance charts by the last few weeks!![]() WHAT A KILLER REMIX As if working with Robbie Williams isn’t good enough for the young Dutch talent, Sander has just completed and roadtested (so some of you will know what we are talking about) a remix for one of the biggest and hottest bands on the planet, The Killers. Their latest single ‘Spaceman’ from their album ‘Day & Age’ is at radio at the moment in most countries, and Sander has just turned in 2 remixes on the package. We’ll let you know about release dates when they are all confirmed.
IDENTITY RADIO REVAMPYes the rumours are true… Identity (Sanders monthly radio show) is getting a revamp and an extension. Not only is it set to become a bi-weekly show (twice a month) but it will also be a longer radio show featuring the hottest tracks, guest mixes from the finest names in dance and plenty of Sander. Over the next month we will be giving you all the news on where, what, how and when… so keep checking your inbox and Sander’s website.SVD.COM FORUMIt’s been something you guys have been asking for on a regular basis and we have finally decided to take the plunge and build Sander a forum for www.sandervandoorn.com . We’re just designing and installing it as you read this, all being well the forum will be launching on Tuesday 17th March 2009 - we’ll send you a reminder letting you know how to get involved.TRANCE ENERGY AUSTRALIATrance Energy is usually held exclusively in Holland but 2009 sees it go on tour, and our man Sander is flying the Dutch flag as one of the headliners amongst a cast of 21 trance DJ’s. The arena tour takes in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth with all 4 shows being between ten and twenty thousand capacity.MEMBERS ONLY VIDEO CASTIf you've been to see Sander recently you'll have noticed that he's had a video camera following him… there is a good reason for this and the only ones that will benefit are sandervandoorn.com members, so get signing up! Starting this month we’ll be bringing you the best exclusive footage from behind the scenes on the road with Sander.ROUNDABOUT (SIMON PATTERSON MIX)Finally… the long awaited Simon Patterson remix of Sander’s alias Sam Sharp ‘Roundabout’ came out on Monday 2nd March. The original mix is still high in the charts and we’re sure this one will follow in its footsteps. You can get your hands on it by going to Beatport here https://www.beatport.com![]() ON THE ROAD Well if I thought that January was fairly quiet, then to be honest February couldn't have been busier. The month started off in Cardiff playing for Slinky, which is always fun, followed by a weekend off to put the finishing touches to my Killers remix (which I’m sure you'll agree was a weekend well spent). I had a great time on my mini tour of Ireland, it was 'rag week' over there and every gig was packed and the crowd, as always, really up for it. The Gallery in London was as usual incredible and really busy and I got to catch up with all my London team for some business and a bit of pleasure!
Then came my gig of the month, at Lush in Portrush. It was a total sell out with hundreds turned away on the door and one of the craziest crowds I've seen for a long time. They've just had a big refurbishment inside the club and it really is an amazing venue again. I also found time (mid week) to stop off in Warsaw to do a great gig there (and I'm so glad I did – see below). As I write this I'm on the way back from my shows in Argentina, the first in Rosario which was amazing and the second in Buenos Aires which was stunning and absolutely packed. March is going to be a cracking month on the road so I hope to see you all soon. BEST BIRTHDAY EVERWithout a shadow of a doubt this has been my best and longest birthday ever. It all started in Ireland where I got a T-shirt form Leo, one of my closest fans. Thanks a lot Leo!Then the madness started last Tuesday in Warsaw where I got a Polish flag with `Happy birthday Sander` written on it, a T-shirt, 2 cards and a teddy-bear from some of my most dedicated fans in Poland. Then the music stopped and the whole club sang happy birthday in English and Polish after which I got a massive birthday cake in the shape of a turntable. Then the same thing happened at both gigs in Argentina where I got 2 more cards, another teddy-bear, a bracelet and 2 more cakes! I´ve literally been blown away by these warm gestures and want give a big, big thanks to all of you: THANKS!!!!!!!!! Sander PRODUCTION NOTESFebruary has been a pretty busy month in the studio. After just completing some final touches on my latest tracks I got a big request in to remix The Killers new single “Spaceman”. When I started working on this project I soon released I had so many ideas that I decided to do two remixes: the first one with more focus on the Killers phenomenal vocals which I also put in this months ID show and the second with a little bit more focus on drive and melody which I will be sharing with you in the next ID show. Both mixes have also been roadtested at my latest gigs and the response has been great so far! There are a lot more projects coming up, so more on that next month! IDENTITY TRACKLISTLINK 1.
