"People invite me to their places, only to make me scare their guests with some weird music". This was the closing sentence in the bio of Andre Crom, a man who turned the minimal scene on its head with the massive tune, 'Notaufnahme' back in 2006. Quite some time has passed since then, and now Crom and his new co-producer Danito will dedicate their first collaboration to Get Digital. It's a journey into a mature sound, modern and classic at the same time.
Sure to be a favorite of the likes of Carl Craig et al, 'Those Nights' is driven by warm pads and a hypnotic chord progression. The infectious flow is supported by the developing arrangement, which elevates the track one level higher as a melodic piano riff is introduced. A perfect DJ tool to bring it all down, before you take it back up.
'These Days' steps up the energy by incorporating rotating synth stabs, shuffling off-kilter drums and a mixture of vocal snippets that pop in and out like your grandmothers dentures.
We just could not help ourselves and had to add, 'Reflect' to this already absolutely rolling 12". What a perfect match it is, with its building and dramatic arrangement. Crom has involved even more classic Detroit sounds, but sprinkles a dash of his own magic dust and a wave from Danito's wand to create something memorable.
Crom and Danito have outdone themselves with three superb tunes that are armed with as much musicality as they have crowd rocking ability. Further cementing Get Digital's status as a respectable label.
