Zoo Brazil has been producing and writing music since the age of 11, and has released over 100 singles under such monikers as Laid, Cuba Computers, Nars, The Kelly Project, The Wiggs and Outcold. ‘Please Don’t Panic’ is the new artist album from Swedish electronic purveyor, Zoo Brazil, a.k.a. John Andersson. Released on the ever reliable Black Hole, the 12 track collection precedes further releases this year on Tiga’s “Turbo” label, Steve Angello’s “Size”, Dubfire’s “Sci+Tec”, “Defected”, “Systematic”, and many more.
The above roll call of labels goes some way in explaining Zoo Brazil’s refusal to be confined to one genre, preferring instead to explore juxtaposing musical avenues under a dizzying array of different guises. This is evident on ‘Please Don’t Panic’, where he touches upon electro pop, vocal melodic house, techno, electro house, minimal, and beyond. ‘Please Don’t Panic’ is at all times cohesive and engaging. Songs featuring Rasmus Kellerman (‘There Is Hope’, ’Locus’, and ’Copycats’), Shoddy Lynn (‘Manic’), Leah (‘You Can Have It All’), and Gina Turner (‘Bang It!’) combine with straight-up club workouts to make this his finest production collection yet. ![]() |
