http://www.riomusicconference.com.br/Rocking the ‘marvellous city' of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this February is Rio's answer to Miami's WMC (Winter Music Conference) - Rio Music Conference. RMC: a fresh new acronym to add to the ever-increasing conferencing of ADE, IMS, SXSW, et al, as its inspiration, WMC, turns a quarter century this spring. Now in its second year, the concept behind the fast-growing RMC is to unite people with (and in) the electronic music industry via the familiar format of a conference and associated ‘festas'. Split into two parts, RMC's curriculum comprises The Conference, which is the professional business side, and The Music, which is the party component. The Conference runs on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th February, from 15:00 - 02:00, with free entry to its program of lectures, DJ/production workshops and panels. Here, you can tune in to the wisdom of such folk as Gui Boratto, members of the Privilege Group, 3Plus agency, Point Blank DJ/production school, DMC mixing team and Beatport, as topics under discussion range from the world economy to the local scene. The Music then follows, with parties kicking off each night from 22:00, between Friday 12th and Fat Tuesday, 16th February. ![]() The Music DJs scheduled to perform this time around include, among others, Armin van Buuren (who will also be doing a Q&A session at The Conference), Erick Morillo, Luciano, Loco Dice, Sharam, Steve Angello and Tocadisco. These jetsetters will join forces with top deck local DJ talents, including Maurício Lopes (who will furthermore speak out during The Conference lecture on Brazil), Léo Janeiro and Renato Ratier, plus electronic trio Life is a Loop, and household names Felguk. RMC organiser Guilherme Borges, director at OSC, the company that produces the event, alongside electronic music event specialists Directa, reveals more, saying: ‘Brazil has many dance music parties, but until last year it did not have an event that aims at the exchange of information between the people in the market of electronic music. RMC 2009 already opened this door and it's certain that in 2010 it will be even stronger. The national electronic scene is very strong and Rio MusRio Music Conference 2010 - The Carioca way! ic Conference shows that.' ![]() Having realised during the debut 2009 edition how crucial it is to debate and plan for the future, Guilherme continues: ‘...Our expectation is to consolidate RMC as one of the most important events in the world, alongside Sonar, ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) and WMC (Winter Music Conference).'
