One could argue that of all the electronic artists and labels that made their name in the decade just gone, it was the Get Physical collective and more importantly Booka Shade (Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger) and M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung) that made the most impression. Back in 2002 when the relatively unknown group of creative’s (including DJ T) decided to launch the label, dance music was in a sonic recession, but with a fresh sound and approach they very quickly pointed us all in a new direction. Between them the Get Physical crew brought sexy back and in turn created some of the finest dance music the world has ever heard, with M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade’s 2005 seminal single ‘Body Language’ ensuring legendary status for all involved.

Off the back of ‘Body Language’ M.A.N.D.Y. became the hugely in-demand globe-trotting DJ’s they still are and Booka Shade are now regarded as one of the finest live electronic acts in the world, having toured the globe numerous times over the past 5 years. Despite all this though, they’ve only ever released one other single together, their deliciously dazed, deeply hypnotic take on Laurie Anderson’s ‘O Superman’. That is of course, until now.

In ‘Donut’, the world now has a third release to treasure. Once you've heard it, you will understand why. Like all the best records, it is both immediately recognisable (as the work of M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade), but quite unlike anything else out there. For instance, its chirruping restless rhythms, its deep lying strata of microscopic pops 'n' clicks is pure M.A.N.D.Y. An irresistible propulsive percussive energy is a hallmark of the duo’s DJ sets. Its Booka Shade’s melodies, however, their manipulation of dramatic tension, that transform this giddy, insistent groove into something with a darker, deeper emotional resonance.
