You recently set up your new label, Mutants – how did this come about?
I was running my label Pickadoll before but thought I would make a fresh start. So I came up with a new name, logo and direction. I'm really happy where it's all leading to and looking forward to see the reactions on the following releases!
What is the influence behind the label?
I've always been releasing music by people and myself that I thought have had something special about it. Could be a hypnotic melody or a haunting vocal or whatever, it just has to be something people will remember.
You have the most amount of pages on Beatport for releases and productions, is this a target that you set yourself?
Well it was a decision I made a couple of years back. I wanted to have releases everywhere on different labels and different directions so that more people could reach it. And by the time it become a bit too much, I slowed down and now I'm working maybe one release every second month
So 21st sees you hosting the main room, you have played here before what is it about the club that brings you back?

I just love everything about it! As a DJ, I value a great booth and amazing sound and Ministry has that. Also, the crowd is always amazing. I love a loud and dancing crowd.
Playing alongside you is Albin Myers and Greg Cerrone, two of your label mates. How would you sum up them as artists?
Albin and Greg are friends of mine and I love their music. I've never seen Greg play before so I'm looking forward to that! Albin I've seen and he always tear the place apart.
What has been your highlight of 2010?
Playing at all these great venues and festivals this year has been amazing. But the highlight must be the direction my music is heading towards now. I'm really proud of that!
Is there anything that we should be looking out for this year?
There are a few singles that are ready to hit the streets and to me they are massive on clubs! I just released collaboration with Avicii called "Don't Hold Back" which is doing pretty good. And I have two tracks called "Matterhorn" and "Olympia" coming soon.
Do you reckon you are the inspiration for your siblings move into music?
I actually have a cousin who just started to make music so keep an eye out for that. Otherwise I'm the second youngest sibling so the others have their career already figured out. But I hope they like what I do!
Where have you been so far this year?
I have been to so many places around Europe that I don't even remember where I've been ha-ha. Also I've been to US for 5 times already this year and might go back later on. And I also had time to do a quick Swedish tour for a change. I haven't been around Sweden that much which is crazy so doing a tour here was really funny.
Anywhere you wouldn’t want to go back?
Bad clubs are everywhere so there isn't like a whole city-ban for me. But sure, I like some places better than others.
And finally… John Dahlback, what is the story behind the ever changing hair?
Well it's only been 3 styles over the last couple of years. I had short hair, and then a bit longer, and now too long so I'm rocking the ponytail ha-ha. But I've been looking for another style recently so that might have to change as well!
