Interview: Funkagenda for Ministry of Sound May 2010

Funkagenda is playing at the Ministry of Sound this Saturday for Wonderland -  buy your tickets now!
Last year, you won the DJ Mag Best of British Award - what were your thoughts on this?
Wow, I was so stoked. I do what I do because I love music, so to be recognized for it is awesome. I am glad people get as much pleasure watching me play, as I do playing for them.
What are your Top 5 tracks?
Right now? I would say:
1.Chris Lake feat Nelski - Minimal Life
2. Threesixty - Dominion
3. Funkagenda - Astana
4. Mark Knight + Funkagenda - Antidote
5. Chris Lake + Michael Woods - Dominos
What is your diary looking like for the Summer?
Super packed. Lots of festivals lined up, and a great season out in Ibiza as We Love... Sunset Terrace resident.
Where would you be now if you weren’t a DJ?
I would probably be a drunk in a bedsit somewhere... Music saved my life...
Advice for upcoming DJs?
Stay true to what you do. Nobody will remember you for playing the same as everyone else. Just play what you want!
What do you do in your quiet time?
I don’t really have quiet time. When I am on planes etc I like to write music or watch films. On my infrequent weekends off, I like to cook. Sushi is my favourite.
Pet hates?
Sand... It gets everywhere.
Other artists that are doing it for you right now?
ThreeSixty, Adam Shaw, Jordy Licious, Kim Fai, Chew Lips, Delphic and many more!
Future productions?
Got loads of stuff in the pipeline... Watch this space!!!
What not to do in a club?
Confuse the bar for the urinal... Always a faux pas.
Tell us about your Toolroom cd?
That was a real trip. Being asked to do a CD for my favourite labels was awesome. I enjoyed it because I got to do two CDs. One that was more for driving to and from the gig, the other was more like my main set... It was fun.
Who is the real Funkagenda?
I am pretty much WYSIWYG... I try to give myself 100% to the people that are mad enough to come see me.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Who knows... I love producing so as long as I am still doing that I guess I will be happy.
Facebook or tweeting?
My Twitter feeds my Facebook so I get the best of both worlds.
What can we expect this coming wonderland?
I will give everyone the full works... No holds barred Funkenator!!!
Lastly, how would you sum up your style in three words?
Big Room Japes...
