Exclusive Interview: Dhany making comeback with "Everything Is All Wrong"

Dance artist Dhany is now making her comeback on Canadian DJ Marc Mysterio's new song, "Everything is All Wrong." The tune was penned by Marc Mysterio and Chris Willis, and also features Karl Wolf. Right now, the song is available exclusively on Beatport, with the Bjornberg Mix causing quite a stir at the moment, and the Mark Instinct Dubstep Mix having cracked Top 100 Chart.

Q1: Dhany, you have been around the scene for quite sometime, but to most EDM Fans, they know you from your songs as part of Benassi Bros. How did you first get started in recording tracks and whom was your first producer?

I FIRST SIGNED WITH FAMOUS ITALIAN RECORD COMPANY OFFLIMITS (WHIGFIELD, ANN LEE, INGRID, BENNY BENASSI) IN 1995 AND I IMMEDIATELY RELEASED THE PROJECT KMC FEAT. DHANY WITH THE FORMER PRODUCER DAVIDE RIVA FOR THE SINGLE "SOMEBODY TO TOUCH ME" AND MORE RECENTLY WITH BENNY BENASSI HIMSELF FOR THE TRACK "I FEEL SO FINE", WHICH REACHED N. 1 OF THE UK CLUB CHART IN 2000.

Q2: What is the story behind Benassi Bros, and who has was behind the project? How did you become to face of the project, and what would you say was the defining moment where you said to yourself, 'Wow, this is going to be huge'?

AFTER REACHING THE TOP OF THE UK CLUB CHART WITH KMC' "I FEEL SO FINE", WITH BENNY AND HIS COUSIN ALLE (AKA BENASSI BROS) WE STARTED A COLLABORATION LASTING ALONG ALMOST 10 YEARS. WE WROTE A LOT OF MUSIC, BUT ONLY IN 2004, AFTER THE PLANET HIT "SATISFACTION", BENNY DECIDED THAT THE MOMENT HAD COME TO PRODUCE AN ENTIRE VOCAL PROJECT FEATURING ME AND MANY OTHER PERFORMERS WHO WORKED WITH US IN THE PAST YEARS, SUCH AS SANDY CHAMBERS AND PAUL FRENCH. SO WE RECORDED MANY HIT SINGLES ("HIT MY HEART", "EVERY SINGLE DAY" AND OTHERS) AND TWO ALBUMS, "PUMPHONIA" AND "PHOBIA", REACHING THE TOP OF THE EUROPEAN CLUB AND SALES DANCE CHART AND GETTING TWO GOLD RECORDS IN FRANCE.

Q3: Tell us about your collaborations with Benny Benassi. He has gone on to achieve mainstream success now, but still included you on his latest album whereas other DJs have abondoned the singers that they previously worked with once they achieved mainstream success. What would you say is special about that relationship, as its quite rare in this business that people remain working together for the decade+ that you have done so?

I GUESS THE POINT IS WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GOOD FRIENDS BEFORE BEING COLLEAGUES AND STILL WE ARE. WE WERE GROWING UP AND HAVING THE FIRST MUSIC EXPERIENCES IN THE SAME CITY IN ITALY IN THE 90IES, SHARING THE SAME PASSION FOR DANCE MUSIC, AND WE HAD A COMMON MUSIC BACKGROUND IN OFFLIMITS RECORD COMPANY. OF COURSE AFTER BENNY' MAINSTREAM SUCCESS, OUR COLLABORATION IS NOT STRICT AND FREQUENT AS BEFORE, BUT I'M SURE THAT MUTUAL APPRECIATION STILL PERSISTS AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Q4: You are set to feature on a new single by Sony Music Artist Marc Mysterio called "All Wrong" which also features Platinum Artist and MTV EMA Winner Karl Wolf and was co-written by Marc Mysterio & Chris Willis. This will be your first major label release since the Benassi Bros Project. How did you get this opportunity, and what can you tell us about the song and maybe how you find Marc Mysterio's Sound unique?

I GOT IN TOUCH WITH MARC A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND WE STARTED COWRITING SOME MUSIC AND WORKING ON SOME DEMO TRACKS. SINCE THE BEGINNING WE HAD THE THOUGHT IT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT TO JOIN HIS PARTICULAR AND UNIQUE SOUND WITH MY VOCALS. THEN WE HAD BOTH BEEN BUSY IN FOLLOWING OTHER PERSONAL PROJECTS AND FINALLY THE MOMENT HAS COME TO GIVE BIRTH TO THAT INITIAL IDEA. AS SOON AS MARC SENT ME "ALL WRONG", PROPOSING ME A PARTICIPATION IN THE PROJECT, I THOUGHT THE TRACK SOUNDED ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND I IMMEDIATELY AGREED.

Q5: Is 'Everything Is All Wrong' going to be your first duet vocal release? How would you rate Karl Wolf's Performance on the record -- as he is a "mainstream" artist with multiple platinum records and an MTV EMA Best New Act (2009) Award to his credit -- that has followed the likes of Akon, Chris Brown, and other R&B Singers in doing side projects with House Music Artists, and what do you think of this trend?

I ALWAYS LOVED TO PERFORM DUETS WITH OTHER ARTISTS AND I'VE DONE SEVERAL ONES IN THE PAST, WITH SANDY CHAMBERS, JENNY B. AND OTHERS. THOSE KIND OF EXPERIENCES ENRICH YOU A LOT AND THERE CAN BE VERY MUCH TO LEARN FROM ANOTHER PERFORMER, BOTH ON STAGE AND IN THE STUDIO. BUT, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT MY FIRST DUET RELEASE, I MUST SAY I AM VERY PROUD AND HONORED TO SHARE A PROJECT WITH A BRILLIANT DJ AS MARC AND A BIG ARTIST AS KARL WOLF.

Q6: What else do you have lined up for 2012?

I BECAME MOTHER OF TWO KIDS IN TWO YEARS AND THIS HAS BEEN QUITE A LOT OF JOB :) SO ACTUALLY IT TOOK MUCH TIME AWAY FROM MUSIC PRODUCTION. NEVERTHELESS, THERE ARE SOME SINGLE RELEASES PREVIEWED WITH D:VISION RECORDS (ITALY) FOR FALL 2012 AND SPRINGTIME, AND OF COURSE, I'LL BE BACK TO MY TOUR IN MARCH WITH SOME GIGS IN THE BALTICS AND IN THE EASTERN EUROPE. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SPEND LONGER THAN 3/4 MONTHS FAR FROM THE STAGE AND FROM MY FANS, THEY ARE MY ENERGY AND I CAN'T GO ON WITHOUT IT!
