Calvin Harris - Flashback (Eric Prydz & David Guetta Remixes)

Do you have a particular routines that you always do before a show?

Not really. I guess I try to find a quiet spot at the club I'm playing to go through my records, but other than that I don't really plan my sets at all. It all depends what mood I'm in on that particular night and what kind of vibe I get from the crowd on the floor. If they give me 100% I tend to reciprocate and give 100% back.

Do you have a dream gig that you are yet to play?

I think I've already done all my dream gigs, but there are always new things for me to strive for. Right now, a dream show would probably be to play completely incognito on the beach of some mediterranean island in front of a fairly savvy crowd. When I do shows at clubs people tend to expect it to be full-on from the first record, which can get pretty dull. I enjoy taking my time and creating an atmosphere during a period of 5-6 hours. Unfortunately, that's a rare luxary for me these days.

How do you keep your creativity flowing when you want to create new material?

I create heaps of ideas for new tracks when I travel back and forth from shows. It's really inspiring to sit on a train and look out the window on the scenerey passing you by, while having 50 different synths and drum machines handy on your MacBook. I don't think creative is something you can force. It comes and it goes and you have to make the best of it while it's there.

What's been your best gig to date?

Difficult question. For me it's always been special to play in Stockholm as that city carries a special significance for me. That's where it all started. I feel like I have a very close relationship to my Swedish fans. They're extremely devoted and it's just pure love between us every time we get the rare opportunity see each other. To answer your questions, I'll probably have to say that my shows in Stockholm are the best ones yet.

Will we see you drop an artist album?

Yes, it's going to drop. I've really taken my time with my album, it shouldn't be something that you stress and want to get out the door as quickly as possible. The most important for me is that the album feels right as an entity. The album is however finished and will drop early spring 2010. It's an album filled with love!

How do you like playing in your home turf as opposed to the rest of the world?

As I mentioned before, Stockholm is probably my favorite place to play in the entire world. Sure, Ibiza is pretty amazing during the summer with venues such as Amnesia and Space or cities in the likes of Miami, London, Budapest and Paris, but for me it's always been special playing in front of my home crowd in Stockholm. I truly look forward to my show at Berns on the 25th of December. It's definitely be one of the pinnacles of the year for me!
