![]() New single Keep Faith heralds the long awaited return of producer-cum-legend Dave Dresden. Now with new partner Mikael Johnston of Mephisto Odyssey fame, Keep Faith is a lush, orchestral, vocal offering that looks set to inflame the airwaves and record boxes of the major players across a plethora of genres from house through to trance. "When the magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked port au price last month, i had trouble looking at the news. the situation seemed so doomsday and bleak, it was the last thing i wanted to take a closer look at. While i was avoiding the news for several weeks, I started thinking about what i could do to help the situation. I talked to Mikael and we thought that if we made a video with our new single “keep faith” (our collaboration with john debo and vocalist mezo riccio) which showed the many different sides to this disaster while also reminding viewers that donations are still needed, this could be our small contribution to help the millions of people who need a little bit more than faith right now." – Dave Dresden If Dresden needs an introduction, the question simply begs; where have you been? One half of Gabriel & Dresden, the American was responsible for some of the biggest anthems in recent times, including Tracking Treasure Down, Dangerous Power, Arcadia and the international smash hits As The Rush Comes (as Motorcycle) and Beautiful Things (as Adain) to name just a few. Mikael Johnston is the founding member of influential San Fran house act and Warner Bros. alumni Mephisto Odyssey. As well as being one of the West Coast’s most celebrated underground artists Mikael has also collaborated with, remixed and engineered for a hand-picked selection of true musical heavyweights, including Jane’s Addiction, Static-X, Soul Coughing, Smash Mouth, The Sounds and Goapele. Now as Dresden & Johnston, the duo is ready to forge their musical manifesto into 2010 and beyond. Dresden & Johnston’s original mix, a collaboration with revered US DJ/producer John Debo, is a blockbuster, an anthemic monster where the soaring vocals of hot new talent Mezo Riccio lain over reverberating guitars and synthed strings are designed with the dance floor most definitely in mind. On remix duty, the pair draft in some of the hottest young guns around in the shape of Morgan Page, Christian Luke, Ultra-Fi vs Save The Robot and Adam White. To round the package off, veteran remixer Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero of Eric Morillo’s Subliminal Records fame provides the standout mix. Page delivers a typically elegant edit, bringing the warmer elements of the orchestral arrangement through for a more tempered-down, delicate and progressive feel. Eschewing the main melody in favour of tap-dripping beats and simple piano chords, Australian upstart Christian Luke’s remix smacks of those late night, throbbing, darkened dance floors where it’s all about the stripped back rhythms and deeper grooves. Finally the UK’s Adam White delivers the intriguingly entitled ‘emalodic’ mix. Going full throttle for the hands in the air, body-rushing variety of trance bound to be snapped up in a second, White shows why Paul Oakenfold has been in his corner all these years.
