![]() Let’s slow down a bit with some Russell G. This is his latest offering on Black Hole’s Songbird imprint; Every Which Way. You might know him for Whiplash. Anyways, enclosed is a Moonbeam remix; that duo has been taking a trip into the realm of techno, so let’s see which direction they take. Read on! Original Mix
Nothin’ but kick. Russell takes his time in ramping up this piece of progress, bringing in some tech-house elements and giving everything a little bit of breathing room, before walloping in some bass and rhythm stabs. A lick of something that would have home in an electro track makes an appearance, before some big room synth kicks in at a break. Aforementioned big room synth is actually our main lead, and with a brisk build, we set off into full groove, bringing all our new friends with us. This one is a nice little number that could fit into a progressive or tech house set. Moonbeam Remix
My curiosity is piqued, since I haven’t been keeping an eye on these two, so let’s check it out. It would appear at first glance that they are gonna take the traditional roots; faster tempo, and simple bouncy percussion set us off, with a bit of tech noise. The duo set sail for darker, deeper waters, right before the break kicks in. Some clinky bits of synth hit the break, before letting the bass wallop for a bit, which in turn sweeps us into the post-break. Another brief break to let those clinky licks float above the track, and we are in transition mode. Two fairly different tracks, but good ones! Tech house lovers will find something in the original, and electro house/tech trance lovers might find something in Moonbeam’s interpretation, I think. As for me, well…I think I’d play the original a bit more than the remix, it’s rather calm and composed, don’t you think? 8.5/10. ![]() |
