Animal Language is the new imprint from Dutch house-meisters Mason. With a monster hit record under their belt and several very cool releases last year on labels such as Great Stuff and i0, the time seemed right for Mason to be the masters of their own destiny.
Animal Language will showcase the cool and beautifully crafted side of what Mason are all about. The label will release the producer’s own double A-side singles starting with ‘Amsterdam Tape’ / ‘Kippschwinger’.
These two deep and groove heavy disco-tech numbers featured on Mason’s recent ‘Amsterdam Tapes’ mix album. The album was Mixmag’s compilation of the month. The title track, ‘Amsterdam Tape’ has been previously unavailable as a single download.
‘The Amsterdam Tape’ is a funky, jacking house track in a typically unpredictable Mason style. Its large bloated and morphing bassline steadily builds into an acidic frenzy broken by some retro stabs and breaks.
The randomly named ‘Kippschwinger’ ( it’s German – look it up!) takes things a little deeper and darker. Grooving along nicely only to be broken by some big -arsed 80’s style sounding theme . A classic Mason left turn.
The package is completed with Mason’s ‘Refurb’ of Kippschwinger. Every Animal Language release will feature a ‘Refurb’ in a totally different, non-club style. Look out for future Mariachi and thrash metal mixes!!!! The ‘furb of the first release is an 80’s epic piano ballad with a serious nod to Dire Straits!
This is the first of regular releases from Mason , coming in all shapes and sizes from now on.  Animal Language will leave you sitting up and barking for more….Woof! Woof!
