Melt! Music Festival 16-18 July, Germany: Booka Shade, Massive Attack, Villalobos

While others make a big fuzz when the first couple of acts are confirmed, we waited to give you a truckload full of confirmations. So here they finally are, the first acts for Melt! 2010!!!
It starts off with an absolute heavyweight: Massive Attack, who just heaved a great masterpiece into the world with their latest album „Heligoland“, will be headlining Sunday. Expect a duel between their massive bass and our iron diggers! Moreover, with The XX we probably have the music world’s coolest hot shit onboard: Their visually greatly instigated show will shine just perfectly in front of the Melt! backdrop, while the steely-cool yearning in their beautiful voices will float through the night. Talking about The XX: XX beat wizard and producer Jamie will also introduce his new Dubstep project at Melt! and show us all that he's not always bleeping in the background, but sometimes he also takes himself all the way to the front and turns up the volume loud.
From one earned hype to the next: Pantha Du Prince. At the moment, everybody’s talking about him and his enchanting „Black Noise“ – and he will also come and perform his Electro at the Gremmin lake – exciting! Teachings in terms of turntables, mixed with elaborate visuals are to be delivered by DJ Shadow, who we could win for one of his festival performances. But we have more – „More!“, to be exact. Booka Shade, who are being celebrated in big hall-like venues all over the world, will present their new album live at Melt!
But Melt! was never a friend of only paying attention to the big names. And this is why, like every year, we also thought of including some specials and exclusivenesses you don’t see very often: A joint set of the Detroit heroes Carl Craig and Mike Banks, for example, or a performance by video artist Chris Cunningham, who brought us the legendary video of Aphex Twin’s „Come to Daddy“ – nightmares included. He will not only perform his video art on stage, but will also bring with him a DJ set – a rare video art meets Electro performance.
What is definitely a world-exclusive performance is the get-together of Berlin Dubsteppers Modeselektor and the cuckoo circus of Bonaparte. We are wondering if the hyped-up punk meets freakshow ensemble around Monsieur Jundt is going to upstage Berlin’s bass, beat and style jugglers Modeselektor, or vice versa. This encounter will take place on the Meltselektor stage on Friday – a whole stage selected by Modeselektor. Quality guaranteed.
Same greatness but different performers at Ostgut Ton Meltdown! Ostgut Ton - the label of the Berlin based clubs Berghain and Panoramabar  - are going to have their own night. They will treat us with Berghain’s harsh but ingenious sound; including Ben Klock, Norman Nodge, Tama Sumo, DJ Pete, ND Baumecker, Boris, Nick Höppner, Prosumer, Steffi, Marcel Fengler, and Fiedel. This night will bring Melt! Festival back to its roots, too, as we know many of today’s Berghain protagonists from back in the days, when Melt! used to be in its infancy.
The traditional Thursday’s Melt! opening with the Audiolith posse will officially take place on the festival site this year. In 2010, the tent party is the new car park rave, so get yourself ready for the Audiolith Pferdemarkt, where Egotronic, Bratze, Frittenbude and Saalschutz are going to raise the roof – err – the flysheet.
We could go on like this forever - ‘cause this is just the beginning. But for a good start here’s the first delivery of confirmations 2010 – let the names speak for themselves:
