Mario Zar, the talented
Croatian producer and founder of
Taekyon Music is finally delivering his brand new EP on his own imprint. After many hard techno releases on labels like Brood Audio or Leutral Records, this time, he did something deeper for afterhours or smaller dancefloors.
Mario comes from a very sporty and musically enhanced family. When he was 8, his parents moved to
Switzerland. There he found the love to Martial Arts, the sport he embraced and still practices. This sport and music are the two big passions of his life. Ok, let’s focus on music here… After his first crazy contact with Techno in the early 90's, he fell in love with the genre. He got into breakdance and graffity as well, like lots of the kids in the 90’s. After years of practicing and experimenting with mixing techniques, he released his
own productions on various labels such as: Viva Music, Bluefin, Yellow Tail, Presslab, Acktivism and many others. He was also remixed by some of the coolest artists around, like Peace Division, D. Diggler, Steve Lawler and Dualton among others.
This new release named “All about the Power EP” includes four original tracks and a remix of the talented and well known Argentinean producer
Franco Bianco, who currently released his music on Hypercolour, Dilek Records and Space Factory between many other vinyl and digital labels. During this year, Franco’s
creative efforts have also been dedicated to his current album including remixes of no other than Oscar-winning artist Jorge Drexler, just released in vinyl, CD and digital format.

Comments: The 'All About The Power' EP from Mario Zar is ready for prime time. Bold chunky beats and flailing rhythm stands up to the test of anyone wielding thigh-high heels on the floor. Franco Bianco's mix more than hints of sci-fi in his moody remix letting them have it with a sly gray-area crescendo. 'Hips Mechanic' is clever and hardly overwrought. The cerebral feel builds throughout, its all so subtle. And when he adds the vocal sample things slowly start to become bent and asymmetrical, interesting. The final track is 'Silverfunk' recalling some latter day Depeche Mode in the low end, and without compromising its originality surveys snakelike throughout. Its got cryptic undertones, almost like a subliminal instructional demo.
